Walking the Camenito del Rey

Walking the Caminito del Rey

The Caminito del Rey is located between the towns of Alora, Antequera and Ardales in the province of Málaga. The northern access to the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes is via the Guadalhorce reservoirs near the village of Ardales and the southern access is via El Chorro near the village of Alora .

The entire trail has a length of 7.7 km, of which 4.8 km are approach routes and footbridges and 2.9 km are boardwalks, 1.5 km of which are at high altitude on mountainside footpaths and viewing points with transparent floors. The required walking time is approximately between 4 to 5 hours depending on whether you choose the descending north/south route from Ardales (4 hours) or the ascending, south/north route from Alora (5 hours). The Caminito del Rey route is linear! There is a bus service in both directions between both the northern (Ardales ) and the southern (El Chorro) access to the walk.
